CONVERGENCEJOINT OPS ENGINE
Khasab from the foothills in a hazy afternoon: palm groves, low concrete blocks and the Musandam mountains under a heavy sky.

ABOUTThe premise, in five minutes

One battlefield.Every seat a real job.

Convergence is one military game where you pick a role. Lead a fireteam on the ground, fly an Apache or a Black Hawk, or run the operation from HQ. Everyone is in the same fight, on real ground, at the real local time, against an enemy that radios for help in the local language.

01What it is

A combined-arms sim where the other crews are real people.

Most military games give everyone the same rifle. Convergence gives each role its own game. The rifleman has stances, a fireteam, night vision and a radio. The pilot has a cockpit, a thermal sight and a 9-line. The commander has the map, the drone feed and the orders.

All of them play one operation together. The helicopter that lands you is flown by a person. The contact you call in shows up on the pilot's map. The order HQ speaks reaches you as a radio call. Any seat nobody has taken is filled by AI, so you can play alone or with a full crew.

  • 1game, one install - the roles are modules inside it
  • 7real places, built from real terrain and map data
  • 126missions: assault, defend, rescue, resupply, recon, convoy, air assault, night strike
The War Table: a dark world map with seven areas marked, live operations listed on the right with seats to join as soldier or pilot, and a Deploy button.
The War Table. Pick a place, an operation and your seat, or join one that's already under way. Every area shows its local time and weather right now.

02The roles

Three roles you can play now. Four on the way.

Each role is built to stand on its own. Put them in the same operation and each one depends on the others.

Night vision view down an alley in the Khasab souq, a rifle in the foreground, radio lines on the screen confirming a contact report was sent. The rifleman's map of Khasab: his position, the objective, and a red contact mark 300 metres north-east from his spoken report.

VANGUARD · INFANTRY

Lead a fireteam on the ground.

You are the team leader, with three men who follow, bound, suppress and go to ground on your word. Stand, crouch or go prone. Clear rooms, climb walls, use night vision, frags, smoke and a flashbang. The ride in is by truck, helicopter, fast rope or parachute.

  • Talk to the men beside you by voice, with no button. Hold V to reach HQ over the radio.
  • Report the enemy by voice: "contact, two enemy infantry, north east, 300 meters." It lands on every map with a grid.
  • Roles: rifleman, squad leader, sniper, medic, radioman, engineer, forward observer.
From the Apache pilot's own rear seat over Khasab in the late sun: the front canopy frames, the instrument panel with its two live displays, the town below.

NIGHT STALKER · ROTARY WING

Fly the Apache or the Black Hawk.

Carry the squad in and get them out. Put rockets and the gun on a target someone on the ground is calling, or go and get a downed crew. The seat moves with the aircraft, and the thermal sight sees heat, day or night.

  • An enemy is marked only once your crew can really see him. He needs a clear line of sight and has to be within range for the light and the sensor you're using.
  • Call in what you see with one key or by voice, and HQ and the men on the ground have it.
  • Air assault, fast rope, static line jumps, door guns, casualty evacuation, combat search and rescue.
HQ planning screen: an aerial map of Khasab with the start points, objectives and enemy groups marked, and the operation's plan and settings on the right. HQ's thermal drone feed following the fireteam: four men, white-hot, crossing a road beside a palm.

TOP BRASS · COMMAND

Plan the operation. Own the call.

Pick a real place, put the objectives and the enemy where you want them, and launch it. During the fight you only see the enemy your side has actually found. Search with the drone's thermal camera, read the contact reports, and give orders by voice or on the map.

  • Approve fire missions and send them to a player or the AI.
  • Every order reaches each crew in its own form: a waypoint for the squad, a 9-line for the pilot.
  • Call players in from the ready pool when the operation needs them.

IRON FIST

Armor & Artillery

Tanks, IFVs, APCs and the gun line. Drive the squad in, or hold the road.

FAST MOVER

Fixed Wing

Jets, close air support, airlift and paradrop aircraft.

ARMADA

Naval

Surface ships and naval gunfire, on standby until the ground calls.

OVERWATCH

Intel & Support

Drones, sensors and air traffic. Find the threat before anyone else can.

03Comms

Talk like you would in the field.

Beside you: the men near you hear you whenever you speak. Your voice comes from where you stand and fades with distance, from about 15 m for a quiet word to 90 m for a shout. Walls muffle it.

On the radio: hold the key and HQ and the whole net hear you, with a real radio's tone, click and squelch. It breaks up under heavy fire.

Calling the enemy: say what you see and where, and the game reads it and puts it on everyone's map with each player's own bearing and distance.

04Real ground

Built from the real place, fought at its real hour.

Every area is built from real elevation, land cover and street maps. The clock is the local time there, and the weather follows the local climate: the same sky and the same storm for everyone on that battlefield.

Khasab & Musandam

Oman's mountain coast. The enemy speaks Arabic.

Mogadishu

Dense city by the sea. Somali.

Mosul

River city, block by block. Arabic.

Korengal

Steep valleys, helicopters or nothing. Pashto.

Fulda Gap

Green hills and towns in Germany. Russian.

Al Anbar

The enemy

AI on a realistic clock. It reports you, calls for help, sends armor and helicopters, and talks on its radio in the local language.

05Where it's at

Late alpha. Closed beta next.

Convergence is built by a solo developer, in the open. The three playable roles work together online now, alongside the War Table, voice, fire support, rescues and the seven areas. Coming next: getting to the fight for real (by truck, helicopter or parachute, driven by a player or the AI) and support units that join on standby and launch when they're called.
